What is a ficlet?

I see that there's a category for ficlets.  My best impression is that they may be songfics.  What are they exactly?

Ficlets are short stories, usually around one chapter or so. These are as opposed to fics, which are anything else, pretty much.


Songfics are stories of any length that have the lyrics to songs between the paragraphs, or in the story itself. The lyrics supposedly pertain to the story, but many people find these stories cheesy. ;)


Filks are parodies of song lyrics that have been changed by the author, in a nutshell.


Hmm, maybe there should be a glossary around here somewhere...:)
